The Kaplan-Martin Library, inspired by architect Alvar Aalto, represents our most intricate and inspiring project to date. Housed within an Upper West Side 1920s pre-war building overlooking the Hudson River, this endeavor presented us with distinctive challenges, notably the facade deviating 15 degrees from rectangle, while each plane boasted its own unique characteristics.
At the heart of the Kaplan-Martin Library lies a testament to precision. A meticulously aligned dual-level interlocking dog-legged bookcase system with integrated adjustable niche which gracefully harmonizes with an attached perpendicular peninsula. This all maintained by an immaculate 1/2" reveal throughout the entirety of the space along with a splayed window highlighting the views, and dropped ceiling which incorporates a lighting system which is a feat within itself.
